Digital Signage around the College

Since working at the college since September 2007 I have been in control of three digital signage machines.
These machines are remotely operated from my computer system in the college and can have any sort of medium playing on them or any static material on them.
This is other way that all events and projects or anything, which is happening within the college, can be advertised and promoted to students and staff but also visitors on a daily basis.

In the past we have used our signage machines to advertise a range of events, which happen annually around the college, but also things such as the college canteen menus to help students with their lunch preparations, contact information for visitors entering the college and end of term important information for staff and students leaving the college.

So what is Digital Signage?

Digital signage is a form of electronic display that shows information, advertising and other messages. Digital signs (such as LCD, LED, plasma displays, or projected images) can be found in public and private environments, such as retail stores and corporate buildings.

The benifits

The benefits of digital signage over traditional static signs are that the content can be exchanged more easily, animations can be shown, and the signs can adapt to the context and audience, even interactively.
